Club SanDisk Application

Hello Seven Forums users,

I recently bought an 8GB SanDisk Cruzer Switch USB Drive and when I put it in the computer, it was filled with a load of junk. This is a CMD directory listing to give you an idea:

I want to delete these files:

autorun.inf
RunSanDiskSecureAccess_Win.exe

and this folder:

club_application

but I'm worried that if I delete these files I will wreck the USB...
Will I?

You can just click on Computer in Start Menu.
Right click the USB drive and choose the format option. It should be perfectly fine I format my USB drives all the time.

That is a good way but I still want to use SanDisk Secure Access.

I would like to know if it is okay to simply delete the files and folders that correspond to Club SanDisk.

Yes you can. You can also move them to another folder on your hard disk if you are not sure you might use them later.

These are simply performance enhancing programs and utilities. Many of these things are not necessary on a system as robust as Windows 7. I never install them.

I always wanted to delete all that junk.

They seem to be doing this sort of thing more than ever these days, and both external HDDs and USB sticks are affected (or, to put it more succinctly, infected). The first thing I do is to reformat, which in most cases removes all the junk and leaves me with a clean drive, which is what I wanted in the first place.

I used to be buying USB's with nothing on them (and I was lucky to spend 100 bucks on a blank 1TB HDD a few days ago) but now every USB I buy is filled with bloatware.

SanDisk didn't even say on their box that the USB was filled with 100MB of bloatware!

And, to make matters worse, this is what I saw in an autorun.inf file on the USB:

action=Get special offers from Club SanDisk
open=RunClubSanDisk.exe

From that autorun.inf file I learnt why SanDisk USB's have a horrible icon in My Computer.
