Command for properly minimizing applications, (not Win+M nor Win+D)

Basically, when I am in the windowed(full screen) mode, I want to be able to properly minimize it on command.
By properly, I do not mean simply putting it on less priority with the win+m command, nor removing it until my next action as with win+d.

In the picture you can see the minimize action from the context menu, within the task manager; this effect is what I am looking for.

If anyone knows of a readily availible command or the like, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi Enheten, welcome to the Seven Forums.

WIN + D (show desktop) and WIN + M (minimize all open windows) are basically the same, only difference being that as a second WIN + D restores the minimized windows, a second WIN + M does nothing.

There are two keyboard shortcuts to minimize a single full screen app window, both needing two steps:
  • WIN + DOWN ARROW
    • Restores a full screen app window to non full screen windowed mode, when WIN + DOWN ARROW is repeated minimizes the windowed non full screen app window
    • WIN + UP ARROW restores the non full screen window to full screen
  • ALT + SPACE followed by N
    • ALT + SPACE opens first a context menu, following shortcut N minimizes the window

Thank you, Kari. However, I tried both your methods, and neither of them was effective.
They only worked when it was non-full screen, like folders in explorer etc.

Both ALT + SPACE and WIN + DOWN/UP ARROW work with all Microsoft programs and applications (WMP, Office programs, IE etc.) as well as with Windows tools (Explorer, Task Scheduler, Event Viewer etc.) and with some third party programs.

Sadly not all third party coders make these standard Windows shortcuts available. However, as far as I know it these are the only standard keyboard shortcuts available to do what you want to.
