Command Prompt From The Windows DVD

I started to use the Windows DVD to run some diagnostics in Command Prompt, but instead of displaying C:\users\administrator, as I'm accustomed to, it said X:\Sources> instead. Not knowing what this meant, I attempted to CD to C:, but it always said that it couldn't find the path specified. How does one use Command Prompt in this environment?

X: is the "Ram Drive", a virtual drive placed in your RAM memory, where all the programs are loaded. You can use Diskpart to see what drive is what:

I did use diskpart and it showed the W7 volume as C: as expected, but I didn't seem to be able to change the directory to it.

OK ... what did it do? Did you type: c: and press enter to change to the C: directory?

Yes, I tried it in a variety of ways. I think that when I tried it that way, that it responded with C:\>, but immediately reverted to X:\Sources>, so I wasn't sure where I was.
