Hi there. Have a scroller box installed via Ie 7 on my website, but can't edit it using Windows 7 and IE9 on new computer. Have tried pushing the f12 compatibility button but doesn't help. Have read I can't install IE7 with windows 7 either. Also have a laptop which has Windows Vista and IE9..does Vista work with IE7 if I uninstalled IE 9 on laptop? or is there another way around being able to edit this scroller box constructed in IE 7? Thanks Rod

Dear A Guy
Hello and thank you so much for replying. Yes when using f12 I have changed both the browser and document mode to IE7. I am using Windows 7 Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 BD 7601..I can neither see the scroller (using Snippet Master Lite). If you have any more ideas I would be so grateful. You said I can run IE 7 in XP mode if supported......what does this mean and how would I do that?
Then you said run IE678 at same time...not sure what you mean here either..do you mean un install IE 9?
Thanks indeed
Rod

Thank you A Guy...my computer has Windows 7 home premium, so guess it won't support XP, so I can't run Xp or run the Ie's simulatneously thru XP? Any other ideas? Thanks Rod

You can use VMware or Virtual Box. I have never used a virtual machine myself, so I will point the Gurus towards this post. I know I have seen instances where people have managed to get IE7 working by making many manual changes. How well it worked, and what the steps are I have never seen. I'd thin that would not be a realistic option. in the mean time, have a look at this:

Install Windows XP Virtual PC in Windows 7 Using VMware Player - TECHRENA

I couldn't locate a similar Seven Forums tutorial, hopefully an admin will see this and change it if we indeed have one.

A Guy

P.S. Have you tried it with Firefox, or another browser? There are other browsers that use the Trident engine IE uses as well. Avant, Lunascape, Maxthon for example. Also there is an addon for IE Mode in Firefox such as IE View. With FF changing so often, not sure what works any more.

Thanks A Guy, I have tried with firefox, and the add on is no use as it just goes back to trying with IE addon, round the same loop of not being able to read or edit the scroller. Read the page on VMware...looks way too complicated for me..will pass it on to others I know with more knowledge. Looks like we have come to a brick wall:cry: as with only Windows home premium, won't support downloading XP
Thanks for all your ideas
Rod

I'm assuming the maker of the scroller box has no updates? I'd be looking to replace the box with something that will work with a modern browser. Sorry, there is just no easy way to use IE 7 on Windows 7 natively. A Guy

Thanks A Guy, yes the consultant we have who made the scroller box can only come up with a much more expensive option for compatibility with IE9 and I don''t really want to go down that track, so think will have to scrub the whole idea. Many thanks for your assistance. Rod
