Compatibility of RAM and CPU

on the specification part of a certin motherbord, ive read a description that says

"DDR3 1600 with Intel® Ivy Bridge CPU, DDR3 1333 with Intel® Sandy Bridge CPU."

does this mean that if my processor is ivy, (i3 3210) then the only compatibility memory that i can use is ddr3 1600mhz? would 1333mhz work on this specific processor?

I can say with 100% confidence that 1333MHz Ram will work fine on that motherboard and with that CPU.

No.
Either one for Ivy, 1333 for Sandy. Sandy is 2nd Gen, Ivy is 3rd Gen, (Haswell is 4th Gen).

Why would you get a Sandy ?

Just get an Ivy and you can run 1600

That is just stupid, because right above that it says "Supports DDR3 1600/1333/1066 non-ECC, un-buffered memory"

I wouldn`t even consider getting that board, it has no room for expansion. Save your money, get something better.

Oh man, seriously if anyone thinks he can only run 1333MHz on Sandy Bridge then you need to think again. That is just the absolute basic amount it will run, Sandy will run 1600MHz all day long no sweat too, I would bet my next pay on that!

The Intel specs for my i7 3770K are 1333/1600, I run 2400MHz ram just fine and others run faster. Take the Intel page On CPU ram with a pinch of salt.

If you ever use Ivy bridge you'll have not interest in taking 1333MHz Dram because of the integrated GPU framerates. 1600MHz will be standard.
