I have two accounts setup on Windows Live Mail and each has separate folders. Also has Quick View which will let you see ALL unread e-mails from all accounts. Just setup an account for each e-mail address. I do not login to "Windows Live" but use Windows Live Mail as a stand alone client.

But then I will still have 30 additional default folders - 5 for each of my 6 email addresses. (And I think I am going to have to start using a 7th. one for work soon, so then it will be 35 folders to deal with, not including my archive folders.)

And if I use the quick view for unread mail, I still have to use each separate folder for email that's been read but not yet resolved - as in deleted, responded to, filed in an archive folder etc.

I don't know how anyone can stand Windows Live Mail if they have more than a couple addresses.

I have 6 accounts and find I have no problem with WLM. Indeed I prefer it to OE. But, Blue Skies, do you make use of the arrow heads to the left of each account folder or do you have all your sub folders open for each account?

I have five active IMAP accounts and 4 windows Live accounts all fully synchronised over two machines. I use Outlook 2010 because it's rules system allows me to store all my mail in one master account.

Basically all that happens is a rule is set in each account that transfers mail to the master account on arrival. My system is actually much more complex than that but the principle applies the same.

I know that other email clients have the ability for rules based email management, so this could be an option for people with multiple accounts but only want one inbox

I leave them open because I usually have mail I need to check in each account.

I do wish I could make WLM work for me.

I now realize that the server errors I occasionally get are because of Inbox.com, the email provider of three of my accounts, and not related to Thunderbird or Postbox Express clients. It's just that those two clients give me a pop-up error message that I have to "OK" for each one, and interrupts the process until I do... whereas Outlook Express (and I believe WLM also) just gives me an error message at the end of the retrieve mail cycle that shows that those operations failed for the Inbox.com addresses... which is much less obtrusive.

If I could avoid getting the individual error messages, I would be satisfied with Thunderbird or Postbox Express.
