Computer HP Pavilion e9270f, Win 7 Home Premium, Edge browser. Computer freezes at random times, can't shut down except with power switch. The problem started once or twice around November 1, has gotten progressively worse. Sometimes freezes before windows even opens. Or, may freeze the first time I click on something, or may be OK for several minutes before it freezes.
I'd updated a number of programs since then, so tried system restore back to 1 Nov, but the restore failed. Tried it several more times with newer dates, and they still failed.
Ran sfc /scannow, with no system errors. Ran PC Doctor (that came with the computer), and everything passes. Unchecked everything on the startup screen. Did scandisc 3 times, errors repaired on the first 2, OK on the 3rd. Uninstalled the programs that I'd updated since restore failed. Did not remove the files in the registry on any of those I uninstalled.
I've got to get it running long enough to transfer some of my files to a new Win 11 computer I ordered.
I pray someone out there will have a solution.
If not, has anyone had experience with ComputerGeeks from BestBuy? Do they charge if they can't solve the problem?
