Computer Freezing every 3-4 Seconds - Read for more Info.

Hey, I've had this computer for about 2 years. Has been great, all working fine. I Virus Scan once a week and use CCleaner. Before posting this I've just done this and it hasn't found a virus and nothing seems to be working out of order.

I have a Windows 7 64-Bit Computer.

For some reason everything freezes for 1-2 seconds and resumes. This is freakquently occuring and it happens every 10 seconds. Even just moving mouse across the screen. I can't seem to find the problem so I came here.

Note: I'm really sorry if this is in the wrong section, I'm new here and it was the closest thing to maintainence.

Run the Delete

:ar: Close all open programs.

:ar: To run the program, right-click AdwCleaner.exe and select "Run as Administrator

:ar: Click on Delete and confirm the prompt.

:ar: After it finishes, the computer is restarted.

Upload the log saved at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt

Once you are back on the desktop download Malwarebytes and run a scan

Run Malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/

When the installation is done uncheck Enable free trial of Malwarebytes (see image below )

Update the definitions and do a full scan

OP, when you say freeze....

Cursor can't be moved and if you look at the hard drive access light on your case, is it on constantly during that time?

When that freeze happens is the keyboard rendered totally useless, try tapping the capslock, does the light work?

Nothing odd on screen or anything?

If you left Task Manager up and sorted by CPU (CPU usage) does anything pop to the top of the list during and/or before/after a 'freeze'?

But when it freezes nothing can be done, no clicking, moving, scrolling, typing, anything.

1- uninstall these programs that you don't want to need.
2-registry also have a great impact on PC performance so always clean your registry
3- if yoyu can't do this then first you should Restart your computer into safe mode.please restart your computer and then press and hold F8 keys until you get Advanced Options menu screen.Use the arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, and then press Enter, your computer will boot automatically to safe mode.

4-Limit programs that run at Startup Limiting programs that run at startup might help you to fix your computer freeze problem
-Click on the Start button
-Type msconfig into the text box then press Enter to locate msconfig You will be prompted system configuration page
-Switch to Startup tab and Remove the check from the box programs that you do not want to start up with the operating system
-press Apply and OK button.

OP, I would look at what I asked about earlier, and I would suggest downloading a Linux Distribution that is a LiveCD version, meaning you can boot it up on ANY PC, it loads in memory the OS completely and safely, and see if you freeze up in that too, if you do then it's a hardware problem FOR SURE. [This assumes you know how to and have the software to burn an .ISO image to CD or DVD blank.]

distrowatch.com for a LiveCD.... (or DVD depending how big the OS is).

I like to think outside the box and that is one trick for testing hardware that I recommend to everyone.

Of course you have to set up your CD/DVD reader in the BIOS to be the boot device to use the Live disc.

What is wrong with your registry that you need cleaning ? If you don't know what you're doing in the registry you might not be able to boot again .

Have you ran the Malwarebytes scan ?

Registry cleaning tools are numerous, but some are potentially harmful, CCleaner by Piriform is one used by many and free, and found here:

Your protection is to backup your registry before you ever start messing with it, that is a separate tool, but there are many, or you can save it from within regedit also, by exporting then selecting ALL, but save it somewhere in a new directory, made obvious to you.

If a Registry tool provides very little/no info on what it does UPFRONT (no selections) then I suggest NOT using it.

I use BoostSpeed and CleanMyPC but neither are free, both with multiple tools besides cleaning the registry.

If looking for malware and viruses, I recommended these 2 for free use:

Malwarebytes'
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - CNET Download.com

and Spybot Search and Destroy

Did you try a Linux liveCD on that system?

I forgot this was the freezing up all the time thread, and running that safe Linux liveCD will eliminate hardware issues as the cause, or confirm.

BIOS setting OPTIMAL defaults is also what I'd have tried already if that was my PC, you aren't overclocking that system are you?

After that, it's an easy wipe and drop of a fresh 7 for me.

But, freezing up completely might just be a power supply problem, which no amount of windows operating system troubleshooting will fix.
