Computer freezing help

I've had a good look at the file, and I can't see anything wrong -which doesn't mean that there is nothing wrong with it, merely that I haven't seen it! (have you ever tried reading 40million badly-spaced characters? )
Since your problems seem to have appeared again immediately after a clean install, unless you installed corrupt or bad drivers, then the problem is almost certainly hardware of some kind - and outside my expertise.

If you can run on the GPU built-in the CPU for awhile it may serve to see if the 650Ti may be faulty. The Intel Graphics aren't very robust for gaming.

Check in Device manager and see how many audio devices are listed, long shot.

Thanks for the reply.

I've had my computer sent off to the manufacturer about 2 months ago and they replaced the graphics card. So I doubt the GPU is faulty.

I know you said don't go off on a tangent but I gave the manufacturer a ring and they said it's not the graphics card or the drivers because you've installed so many different versions and you've found no permanent fix. The 1 common factor with all of my installs are the motherboard drivers which I install from the disc. They said I should update the BIOS, if that doesn't fix it try updating the intel chipset driver and if both fail then send the PC back to us and we'll test the motherboard, they think it might be a faulty PCI slot.

Do you think that's a good idea?

I'm not on the PC at the moment but I've been on he devices manager and there is only 1 audio device because I use DVI not HDMI so I need a separate audio cable which I plug into the motherboard.

This is probably only a temporary fix but since I uninstalled Physx the problem appears to have gone. I've had no freeze/BSOD for about 3-4 days now.

It's not impossible for a new piece of hardware to be defective. Heck I got 4 defective boards back from ASRock once.

I have an inherent mistrust of what manufacturers say. Before you send it back again, it doesn't cost anything to try my suggestions.

Follow their ideas too, especially if there is a BIOS newer than what you now have. Try a different PCIe slot as well.

Ok. I'll leave it be until something else goes wrong. When/if is does I will move the graphics card to the other PCI slot. If that doesn't fix it I'll try my Intel 4000 graphics. If all those still fail I'll do what the manufacturer said and update the BIOS.

If I find a permanent solution I will let you know because I've had this problem for nearly a year now and it's the most difficult problem I've ever encountered with crashes.

Sorry, I had your board confused with another person's. Yes try just the onboard GFX.

I've been reading some BSOD posts and a lot of them suggest enabling Driver Verifier if you are unsure which driver is causing the problem. Should I do it?

I don't know if this really means anything but I've been looking at a few posts as I want to get into debugging myself, I was looking at a particular post and the furmark looked the same as mine (I'll upload mine). They said it wasn't rendering properly. Is that the case with mine? Thanks, my computer has still had no problems since I removed Physx.

This is the preferred, best way to upload an image or a file to a post. Press the Windows logo ALT key rb: and PrntScrn at the same time, this will capture the active window to use in Paint or your preferred graphics editor.

You may also upload a photo or image you already have as you would a file, without using the Snipping tool.


To me it does look a bit "off" around the edges of the furry object and the background in the center should be orange.

Right, everything has been fine since I uninstalled Physx about 2 weeks ago just after I last posted here. Today, listening to music on Youtube and playing a game my computer just froze. Now I really don't think it's hardware or anything because 2 solid weeks with constant use and no problems. I honestly don't have any other ideas. It's so baffling I can't get my head around it.
the only thing I've found is on the event viewer which are 4 File system Filters being loaded at the exact time of the freeze which are 'SymEFA', 'FileInfo', 'eeCtrl' and 'BHDrvx64'.
Any ideas anyone?

I hate to say it but it may be because of Norton 360. I use Norton Internet security with no problems, but the 360 has too many tweaking options.

If it is Norton that's causing it I'm not bothered anyway, I'm going to switch to bullguard. In fact I was going to anyway later this week.

I know this is a bit off topic but I want to get in to debugging more. I'm reading Windows Internals and I go on a few different threads and help people out as best I can, I go on a couple of other forums now and then but I have to say, this is by far the most difficult issue I've seen. I've never found a definite cure so far for my PC and it's a year old.

I just find it very interesting. I mean I've had a lot of BSODs and freezes since I've had my pc which has inspired me because I know how frustrating it is to have all these problems and that there are many other people out there that need help with it.

It is interesting I agree. I look at the reports generated by others and see if I can figure out where in the world they come up with the causes/solutions.
I have asked some BSOD team people and got good feedback. Others reply as if the burped up the Oxford English Dictionary.
