I've done some troubleshooting, and determined that I should update my ATK0110 file, as I'm using the one from 1995 that is known to cause BSOD issues. Although I'm not getting a BSOD, since I'm using this file, I think I should update it. I'm hoping it fixes my issue.

I've downloaded the zip file with the updated ATK0110 file, but I'm stuck on how to update it. Do I just cut/paste it into my system32\drivers folder, and replace the existing file with the new one? Or is there something else I should do to update this file?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

What is the exact make and model of your system (or motherboard)?
FYI - the BSOD issue applies to using the 2005 version of the file with Windows7.
If you're using a 1995 version you've got more serious problems than just that file.

My perfmon html file is in the zipped folder.

Thanks.

As for the 1995 file, I'm not sure. I installed Windows, and that's the file. Still wondering how I update it, though.

As far as I can see, you don't have a copy of the ASACPI.sys file on your system in any position to cause any damage. No drivers by that name are loaded.

From the MSINFO32 report, you're missing drivers for these devices:
Not Available ACPI\ATK0110\1010110 The drivers for this device are not installed.

Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows USB\VID_045E&PID_0719\FD9B9BB0 The drivers for this device are not installed.

Multimedia Audio Controller PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0007&SUBSYS_10121102&REV_00\4&35E69562&0&30A4 The drivers for this device are not installed.
Download this file from the Asus website for your motherboard and OS ( ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- download_item_mkt ): ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Win7 32&64-bit It's under the Utilities section.

Extract the file to a location on your system
Double click on the MB WIN7 ATK folder to open it
Double click on the 64 folder to open it
Double click on the AsAcpiIns.exe file to install the new driver

Then double check in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder to see if you have the 2009/2010 version of the ASACPI.sys driver.

I would remove the X-Box device from the system and uninstall it from Device Manager
I'd install drivers from the Asus website for your built in Audio device in order to make that functional.

Beyond that, I don't see any issues with your system - it should be working just fine.
Are you having problems?

Thanks for your replies.

I'm retarded or something. I don't know why I thought I had the 1995 file. I (of course) have the 2005 file. I'll follow your steps and report back. Thanks again.

Not a problem, it doesn't matter what date it is as we'll replace it with a 2009 version (using the instructions above).

Thanks again.

It's been a couple days, and not a single freeze, so it looks like that solved the issue.

Appreciate your help. +100 internets for you, sir.
