Computer keeps lagging/freezing every few seconds.

My problem is that my computer keep lagging every few seconds, the video (entire display, including mouse) freezes and audio buzzes.

I can go for a while without anything going wrong on my computer, but once it starts to lag, it happens for about 10 seconds on and off.

This happens almost randomly, the freeze is about a half a second and happens one after the other.

I have looked at many different articles describing problems similar, but all of them are talking about, just a video lag, or just an audio, etc. None of those solution have helped me.

At first I thought it might be my ram, maybe it was faulty, but i have switched the two 4gb sticks around and tested both so I know its not the ram.

So that leaves, Processor, Mobo, and Graphics card.

I built this computer completely by myself and it was my first build. I had a lot of issues building it and I could have messed something up. I have warrantys on all three components so I can bring any of them in, I just dont want to waste my time, or theirs by replacing something that doesnt have a problem.

Could anyone shed some light at all on what might be the problem?

Well, the bad news is that it could be anything from the problems you mentioned to the PSU or OS files. Try the simple test first. Open an elevated command prompt (click start, type cmd in the search bar, right click on the entry that appears and select run as administrator. ) Provide admin permission and copy/paste sfc /scannow in the window and press enter. It will take just a few minutes. It will check system files and attempt to correct any that are wrong. Next test the ram with memtest86 for 7 passes (best to check overnight), the CPU is possible but not likely. You can test it with Prime95 watch that test very closely with a good temp monitorting program like core temp. You can use Furmark to test your GPU, watch the temps on that also. Also, please completely fill out your system specs. The computer listed in your system specs looks to be a laptop. I don't think that is the computer in question. It would help us to know the hardware you have. What size, brand of PSU do you have?

Thanks alot for the reply, I will try all of those things.

Here are my specs:

-Processor: i7 2600K
-Mobo: GIGABYTE Z68X-UD3H-B3
-GPU: MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II
-PSU: PC Power and Cooling Silencer 760W

I know that my PSU is fine to run everything else I have, My computer isnt too demanding and I was told 760 would be more than enough. I had an issue with core temps a while back but I installed a new heatsink and they tend to stay relatively low. But I will run a few of those diagnostics and see how everything pans out.

I will work on filling out my new specs because this is now my main computer.

I did every test you mentioned, but nothing trigged the issue. even at max processing or graphics processing my computer didnt act up. So most likely it isnt the processor or GPU.

I ran memtest last night and it went through 11 passes with 0 errors.

I ran an elevated command prompt and scanned my OS files but all it did was remove my Theme that I had installed .

My only conclusion is that its the motherboard. But Im still really not sure.

I havent had anything happen since ive turned my computer on about a half hour ago, but my guess is that it will start happening again in an hour or so.
