Hello 7forums, I am having an issue that has started occurring in the last week, after I began installing all of the windows 7 updates (Recently re-installed windows)

Now my computer is randomly rebooting, no warning signs, no BSOD, nothing.

My fans and CPU are at about 30-40 degrees when this occurs and ram is under very little stress, it mostly occurs soon after powering on my system, for example it randomly rebooted 3 times 1 hour ago, about 5 minutes between each one and has not rebooted since.

I have no idea what's going on, I don't have a virus either.

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

Could this be due to my PSU? Another issue I've been having recently before this started was my graphics cards drivers crashing, and now this..

A power supply issue would be a likely cause for this. Do you or a friend have a power supply you could use to test your system?

Sadly, no and all the other PSUs in the house are too small, should I just go out on a limb and buy a new one?

Could you add to your system specs the brand and information of your power supply.

When you computer reboots all by itself does it post any messages?

Ah sorry, forgot about it as I had to take off the side of my case to read the psu name.

There's nothing, no BSOD no warning no message, screens go blank, audio stutters, then nothing. Fans will turn off, then on in about 30 seconds, and system will start up as usual, it will prompt asking if I wish to boot in safe mode or not and then it starts up as normal.

Okay that helps.

Normally this is caused by a power loss.
I would first check ALL cable connection for damage of any kind and for proper seating.
If you are using a surge protector and anything else between the power supply and the wall socket try using the computer without them.
Also remove the plugs from the wall socket and look for signs of problems with the wall socket. If their are burnt tracks or the wall plate is hot you have a problem there.
What this is doing is trying to isolate the problem.

I have seen things as simple as the power button on the case sticking to a motherboard, power supply ect cause this problem.
Once all connections are known to be good it's usually a power supply.

***Another question or two.
When you do a normal shut down and then startup does that process work normal?

Have you done any bios flashing?

What you posted is exactly how a forced shut down should happen, or when power supply is cut off. But before there is a confirmation that it is a power supply issue, I would usually advise to check for system errors, followed by confirmation that it is hardware issue.

Either way you can go ahead and jump a step to replace the power supply and if the restart doesn't happen then it's solved.
If it still happens then we can start looking at software troubleshooting.

Swapped the socket about 30 hours ago, no errors since, luckily its the weekend so not ordering the PSU wont affect me much while I test this. Thank you all for your suggestions and help.

Do keep us posted.
If you are referring to the wall socket be careful and don't use that wall socket until a pro checks it out.
