Hi, I just made this account because this problem has been frustrating me for quite a while. I had to stop playing LoL because of this problem and now recently, I have attempted to play SWTOR to no prevail. This laptop is fairly new (got it last Christmas). I will be playing the game for 5 minutes and then the audio will stop for 5 seconds before the screen goes black and the laptop shuts off. When I turn it back on, I get no messages or errors. Also, I am not the most computer savy person so I dont know which computer specs are needed. Thanks for all the help!,

It is probably a heating problem. Laptops overheat easily. Unless your laptop doesn't have the required specs.

Yep, first thing that comes to mind is heat, the devil's friend but the death to laptops... :D

If you don't have one, go buy a laptop cooler fan or something like this if you want to play with more options... Amazon.com: Foldable Cooler Fan Notebook Laptop Table Portable Bed Tray Book Stand: Home & Kitchen

Another thing you can do is update your Audio and Video drivers... if you tell us the brand and model of your lappy, we might be able to point you to the right websites to download them from or your laptop should have an application to update itself.

Agree with the other dudes, sounds like your lappy is overheating and your mobo forces it to shutdown so you don't kill it.

Thanks for the responses everyone! And I dont think that it is an overheating issue because I download a heat monitor and checked it when the game was running before it crashed.... the hottest temp it reached was around 85 degrees C. Is that too hot? And I have a Samsung Rc512-W01US

Well, it exhibits all the symptoms of heat issues but if you say that in not the case... who are we to argue with you? ;)

In any case you are using the lowest graphics card a notebook or PC can have, those are good for business solutions or home use like light editing, youtube watching, etc, etc.

Your notebook should have an application where it would update itself from samsung, if not go to their support page, and download their latest audio and video drivers.

Even if your temp app suggest heat is not an issue, buying a cooler is never a bad idea for a laptop + gaming... never :D

After I tried playing the game with my computer on a desk angled downward, instead of on my lap, it worked. I guess it was overheating because it was 20 degrees cooler and never shut the laptop off. On another note, I think my fanis not working. Is there a way to check this? thanks!

Yeah most of the situations I and others have seen with similar problems like this are usually related to heat problems, investing in a cooling pad wouldn't be a bad idea for a laptop and playing it on a flat table instead of on your lap and avoid setting it on areas like the carpet when your using so it doesn't block your fans from blowing air out.

I have a Samsung RC512 also. I have the same problem. it will shutdown no matter if its hot or cold. I have been on so many forums and everyone always says its Heat related, which it does *sound* like the problem is heat. I am thinking that the samsung RC512 has a problem with the heat probe more than the heat it's self.

The funny thing is that I have almost the same problem. I am into 5 minutes in the game then a screeching noise comes up and then the laptop shuts down. I have recently changed my HDD as my old one had bad sectors and yesterday changed the RAM (even making a small upgrade from 6 to 8 GBs). I have Acer Aspire 8942G
