Well i watched a few days later cause the problem still hasent stoped and i watched it go into sleep mode then a few minutes later turnes back on.

any feedback will be apreciated thanks :)

Your network connections may be interfering with Sleep Mode - check the settings.

1. Go to Start, type Device Manager and then press Enter
2. Expand Network adapters
3. Right click a network adapter and then click Properties.
4. Click Power Management
5. Make sure the box, Allow this device to wake the computer is NOT TICKED.

Apply this to all network adapters.

Uh... when I typed in Device Manager the second time, it said "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropiate permissions to access the item."

It shows me that error over and over.

I did the above that was suggested on this Dell T-5400 workstation , and I thought it worked, but only to find it is turning itself on again at all hours. I went back and had another look in the device manager /network adapters and none of them are checked that allow the adaptors to turn it on.
Is there anything else I might try? thanks very much!

My desktop has just started the same tricks as the OP was experiencing with his computer. Mine was continually coming out of sleep mode for no apparent reason then entering sleep mode for a while - then on again soon after. The screen still stayed off though.

Tried ex-member DeanP's advice and found a network adaptor that had the box checked to wake my computer. Unchecked the box - so fingers crossed. Thanks DeanP, wherever you are now.
