Computer wakes up from sleep, nothing displayed

Hi,
As the title says, occasionally when I wake up my computer from sleep, it will turn on (all of the fans and lights start running) but there is nothing displayed on either of my monitors. If I hard reboot, the problem is fixed.

I have my hard drive set to "never turn off" and this hasn't helped the problem.

If the specific problem is not addressed. You may want to check the Video card, driver and memory.

As a test try turning off Aero.

I have the same issue, except I can't get the damn thing to come back on the screen no matter what I do. Plugged, unplugged, cmos battery removed and replaced, memory moved around, even HD unplugged. I'm going to try pulling the video card and reseating. This happened once before and I managed to get it, but I toyed with it for an hour today.

Kind of hard to turn off sleep when I can't get the computer to wake up to let me get to the options!

Shut down the computer. During boot hit F8 repeatedly and quickly. You will get to safe mode. You can get started from there.

I tried that, but it doesn't boot, it just continually tries to wake up. It's weird. If I could get it to show a post i think i'd be good, but no such luck.

Hold the power button for about 10 seconds.

Is the computer on? Can you hear any activity or see lights?

If not, I wonder if you have a bad power supply or motherboard.

No, the computer is definitely on. The fans spin fast, the lights come on, no display...if i leave it alone for about 30 seconds the fans slow down, which says to me the chipset drivers are loading properly.

I'll try the f8 thing again. I think I might have been pushing f12 thinking that was the boot choices.

F12 is usually BIOS and boot choices F8 is safe mode. It is your computer at a bare bones minimum. You can turn it on and off, turn off sleep etc.

No such luck...even after a hard reset it just goes right to blank monitor

You may want to take your computer into the shop to get the graphics card or mother board replaced.

Not nice, specs are not filled out.

If you have a desktop, uplug wait 30 minutes and boot. If laptop, same but battery must be removed.

Switch off screen blanking in Power settings. Works for me

I had a similar problem. It would be worth checking that your monitor isnt confused about whether it is receiving an analog or digital signal from the display card:
