computer won't boot from disc drive

I am trying to run memtest on a new build and for some reason, the machine will not boot from the disc drive. I'm positive that it CAN boot from the disc drive because I just installed windows 7x64 on it last night. I have already configured the BIOS to boot from CDROM as it's first choice and selected to boot from CDROM thru the boot menu. I am 100% positive that this memtest disc is good because I just successfully ran it on my main machine with no problems. What do I do? Thanks for your help in advance!

In the past I had a problem with an older CD-ROM not being compatible with an RW disk that I had burned. It would only take a regular CD-R to boot.

Can you access the disk when booted into Windows on that machine?

Yes I can access it once I'm in the OS. I am able to boot from this disc on my other computer which has the same disc drive. I don't understand why this new build won't boot from this disc. In the meantime I was able to boot from a thumb drive and run memtest that way. I'd still love you know why it wouldn't boot from the disc drive. Maybe there's a problem with the BIOS. Oh well!

Variations in the laser intensity,error corrrection capability combined with the reflectivity factor of the media may be one cause of this errant behaviour.

If you want to confirm whether it is so, the easiest way is to interchange the drives between the two machines and try.
