Solved Computer won't initially connect to the internet?

I just got a new Windows 7 PC and never had this problem on my old XP, First it would startup up and it would completely not connect to my "network 1" and would make a "network 2" and connect to that fine.

After while it stopped doing that and would connect to the first network, but now whenever I boot it back up it just won't connect for about a 1 minutes and half.

I tried to resetting my modem/router are there any other ways to fix this?

Have you gone to Windows update yet and installed all the required updates for your new system?

This usually fixes these types of problems but if not you can try updating or locating a better network driver for your system but try Windows update first.

Yes all the updates are downloaded besides the optional downloads


Edit: I went under Device Manager and looked for driver updates under Network Adapters and it said they were upto date is there a other way to do this?

Sometimes the optional updates have better drivers for your system, might be worth while to try those.

Also, depending on how old your router is it may be worth while to update the firmware.

Downloaded the optional updates and no luck and I downloaded the latest firmware for my router last night

TCP/IP or other parts of your network stack could be corrupted, running the command below would fix those types of problems.

Lets try flushing DNS cache and renewing your IP.

Flush the DNS cache and restore MS's Hosts file ...
Copy and paste these lines in Note pad.

@Echo on
pushd\windows\system32\drivers\etc
attrib -h -s -r hosts
echo 127.0.0.1 localhost>HOSTS
attrib +r +h +s hosts
popd
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset all
netsh int ip reset all
shutdown -r -t 1
del %0

Save as flush.bat to your desktop. Right click on the flush.bat file to run it as Administrator.

Your computer will reboot it self.

Rebooting a second time seems to help.

After that can you please post your ipconfig/all here. It may show some other problems that I'm missing at this point.

Looks like that did it, I rebooted twice and it connected right away, thanks man

No problem, I think one of updates somehow messes up the TCP/IP stack and running that command straightens all that out again. I'll have to remember this for next time I see this update problem.
