Solved Computers with USB 3 and Windows 7

I notice that several new computers come with USB 3.0 ports and Windows 7 Home Premium installed. It is my understanding the W7 does not support USB 3.0.

If so, what advantage does having the USB 3 port on such a computer?

It's only that Windows 7 does not have built-in USB 3.0 support included by default, but you would just need to install the USB 3.0 (ex: chipset) drivers from the manufacturer's site for USB 3.0 to work fine in Windows 7.

I guess that means the Windows Repair Disk will not be able to see a USB 3.0 external hard disk connected to a 3.0 port. Is that correct?

At boot, it may see it if the motherboard supports it. If not, then you should just be able to use the "Load Driver" option from the repair disc to select the USB 3.0 drivers to see it afterwards.

Image restore Linux boot CDs by Macrium Reflect and Easus ToDo Backup have USB 3.0 support. Also by now their WinPE discs may have caught up or you may be able to add the driver into the image somehow.
