Solved Concerned about getting new SSD 60 GB

Hello,

So i wanted to buy a new 60 GB SSD,now i have a 1 Tb HDD and my question now is,if i make the SSD my primary drive for windows 8 or 7 doesn´t matter,will i only have 60 GB space and what will happen with my 1TB on my secondary drive? I mean it will be much faster with the SSD,but i don´t want to lose 1TB for just getting a faster PC.

I like playing games and watching movies and if i´ll just have 60 GB it´s not worth it imo.

P.S. Sorry if people already posted simular threads and english isn´t my mother language,so if i made any mistakes i apollogize.

You can install Windows 7 to the SSD, and install the other programs (games etc.) to the HDD as you did before. Your system will still be considerably faster since the operating system is now on the SSD.

Oh thank you,because i watched some videos about installing new SSD and i thought if i install Windows 7 on SSD i will lose all my space that i had on HDD. So basically everything will look the same as now,only my operating system will be on SSD and it will run much faster and i can still have 1 TB for other stuff?

Yes, you can still have the 1TB for other stuff, but any programs that are installed to the 1TB currently, will need to be reinstalled, with the exception of Windows 7 of course which will be installed to the SSD.

I suggest you follow this:

1. Backup any user data (music, photo's etc. to a USB drive)
2. Uninstall all programs from the 1TB
3. Connect the SSD and disconnect the 1TB <--- important to physically disconnect the 1TB.
4. Install and update Windows to the SSD
5. Now reconnect the 1TB in another SATA port, and format it.
6. Create any partitions on the 1TB
7. Copy your data from the USB back to the 1TB
8. Install your other programs etc. to the 1TB.
