Configuring a Win 7 Install for a system that will never use the web

This may seem a backwards idea in this age of "ever connectivity", but I have an old computer that I plan to use for a jukebox to play music through a DAC and through my stereo system. That will be it's only goal in life. In other words, this computer has retired and wants to lead a life of leisure!

With that said, I wanted to tweak an install of Windows 7 that removes all unnecessary programs and Services, Lan connections, WiFi connections, search, telephony, games, Yada Yada Yada.

Does anyone know what would no longer be needed to make this happen?

I know, something like a Puppy Linux would probably do great at this task, but I'd like to stick to Windows for the few pieces of software I will install.

I would leave the network running and hook up a wireless router to it ( Router does not have to connect to the internet ) and stream the music or video to any Wifi capable device. Could be streamed to an old phone or new phone or your desktop computer.

There`s no reason to remove anything, just don`t connect to the web.

Just turn off any services you don`t want running.

Why bother. All this stuff takes a little space on the disk but that's all. Not worth the effort.

What do you hope to gain by doing this?
Disabling services even to the point that functionality was severely impacted would provide no measurable let alone noticeable gains in performance. And you may disable a service that you needed. The descriptions provided are not complete. In fact you won't find a complete description anywhere.

I would recommend being very, verrrrry careful using BackViper.

Really isn't any need to do all that as many have explained already.
