Conflict Issues

Hi.

I am running windows 7 with ASIO4ALL Drivers on an onboard soundcard all sitting on top of a Gigabyte G31M-ES2L Motherboard with 2Gb of DDR2 RAM.

I am having a problem of running more than one audio program at the same time. I can only use one audio source at a time.

E.g. Fruity Loops / WMPlayer / Youtube audio for example.

I can run all these programs together but the audio I get only comes from very first program I open. The following programs I run have no sound what so ever.

Has anyone had this problem and can you help?

Have you given the motherboard drivers a try? ASIO4ALL is just a generic driver, and won't let you use your computer to capacity.

I've run into problems with ASIO4ALL and when I installed it, for one audio device, it corrupted the drivers for another audio device. I dumped ASIO4ALL and my problems went away.

I think maybe ASIO4ALL was self installed when I installed Fruity Loops.

Do you think that installing the motherboard drivers will affect Fruity Loops in any negative way?

If possible I would like not to have to re install FLoops.

I have Sonar and if it's like Sonar, it's just DAW software. The ASIO or WDM or whatever is set according to what hardware sound device and it's operation and not for the DAW software.

As I can remember, I think I installed ASIO because I had a popping sound that occured when I played back sound from Fruity Loops. I'm just worried that I might mess up the nice sound feel that I now have. Is the general concensus that motherboard drivers are just better than ASIO drivers. If so, I'm going to give it a go.

Yes, the proper drivers are better than a generic one.
