Solved Confusing data on T5800 CPU

I found 2 Intel pages and one says a T5800 is a socket P and the other one says sockets supported PPGA478.
Trying to find if the socket P is PPGA478 doesn't seem to exist.Would someone straighten me out on this?

I've never heard of socket P.

PPGA478 is better known as socket 478.

Above link says PPGA478 and I'd assume that is correct unless you can verify what "Socket P" is.

What's the link to the page you found saying Socket P?

Turns out there is a socket P:

where it says:

"Socket P has 478 pins, but is not electrically pin-compatible with Socket M or Socket 478."

But I'd certainly take the word of Intel itself rather than some web site.

I suppose there is some chance the Intel page is wrong or that there is more than one version of the T5800 processor.

That I did see, but it doesn't answer the question how do you know what socket the T5800 your buying is?
Would you just assume it is a socket 478?

I'd doubt Intel would use "T5800" for more than one processor and I'd assume it's socket 478.

But I wouldn't be sure enough to spend money as the Intel web page could be wrong.

Don't know what else to tell you. Do more research and hope others will give more info.

The computer this is for is a laptop so, I did some eBay research and found all the T5800 CPUs selling on eBay are SLB6E socket P processors. If I was looking for one for a laptop, that's what I would buy.
