Solved Connecting 2 PCs to Net simultaneously

I've 2 laptops Win 7 in the lounge to watch films etc. and Win 10 for working in the study and need to connect both to the Net.

Win 7 is connected with an Ethernet cable directly, but I don't know how to connect Win 10 to a separate Wifi connection which is the only other option available as my other Ethernet cable is too short.

The detailed procedure will depend on the actual Wi-Fi router in use but basically you need to set up the router to provide a WiFi signal [usually the default],and to automatically provide the required data to the laptop, you also need to set up the laptop to obtain it's WiFi connection automatically ( this is the windows default ), enable the WiFi on both the router and the Laptop.

To connect you check a list of available wifi signals available Using the Network Icon in the Tray and select your router's ID - When prompted you will need to enter a password

The router ID and Password are usually printed on a label on the bottom of the router.

The information once set-up should be simple to use as it remembers the details and connects automatically by default

Do you have a router with wifi capabilities? Where does the Ethernet cable you are using with the Win 7 laptop originate? It may come from a router in another part of the building you're in.

You could make the Win 7 laptop act as a wifi hotspot to share it's connection with the Win 10 laptop. See this link: How to Turn Your Windows PC Into a Wi-Fi Hotspot

You could also purchase something like this: https://express.google.com/product/...5OQ&utm_content=eid-lsjeuxoeqt,eid-qpkemdosjg. It would let you plug the Ethernet cable into it and then create a wifi hotspot that both laptops could connect to.

I just connected Win 10 to the Net by clicking on its hot spot wifi icon and now on line with both PCs, never even knew it existed ! Great thanks again !!
