I'm trying to introduce a Windows 7 Pro computer into a legacy peer-to-peer network environment. The problem is simply that the credentials of the Windows 7 computer are not being accepted by the legacy servers. One is an NT server and the other is Windows 2000 server.

In each case when I try to connect to the resource and asked for the user id and password, this is not accepted. Is there an incompatabilty in the credential schema? There is no domain in this schema so I am not sure why there would be a problem. If anyone can help, I would certainly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Halbert

I connect all the time to Windows 2000 Server via Windows 7. Some machines are non-domain and others are on the Domain there are no issues I know of. I no longer have any Windows NT Servers or Windows NT Workstations so I can not test that for you.

Are you using some especially long passwords?? I know there have been some weird issues with that, or passwords with special characters. I remember we had a password with a "&" in it and sometimes we could not connect because the system thought we are trying to "and" one part of the password with another. UGH!
