that's fine. I will be around a little longer, but in all honesty, I believe it will work. If you were in a true raid where all data is split across both hard drives, then I am sure it would fail, but you are not. The SSD is only used for a cache, to store the data used most often to speed the hard drive up. There is no splitting of the data, and you still have IRST installed which has the Raid drivers but also has AHCI Drivers. So, I don't see any reason it wouldn't boot. Does that sound logical to you?
Yes, it sounds totally logical, and I'm sure you're right. What a dumb setup. I mean, really! Leave it to Dell to configure it that way and then bork the driver!
I am 26% done with the system image and crossing my fingers. If I get that completed without a BS, I'll cut the rescue disk, make sure it boots, and then change that setting to AHCI.
