Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum, but having previously visited the forum occasionally, I can tell how awesome this place is. Our office PC is running into errors lately and this Windows Activiation Technology window keeps popping up from time to time. I'd really like to know how, if possible, can we have this fixed. As you can see from the screenshot below the bottom left corner shows the error 0x8004fe21.

Here's the results from running the diagnostics tool. I'm not tech savvy at all and would greatly appreciate help into resolving this problem.

There appears to be a problem with the WAT install...

Close all open windows.
Open an Elevated Command Prompt window, and type the following command

wusa /uninstall /kb:971033

and hit the Enter key
Accept the warnings/confirmations, and wait for it to complete

copy and paste the output (if any) from the command prompt window to a reply here,
Reboot

reinstall the update from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971033
Reboot

run another MGADiag report, and post it.

Could it have been a bad install of the WAT update then? Nobody could have 'tampered' with the system.

Our business day has just started, but I'll definitely give that a try as soon as the day is over and everyone logs off. Thank you for the quick response NoelDP; greatly appreciated! :)

It's possibly a one-off glitch either in the registry or on the HD - without doing forensics it'd be hard to tell.
It's simpler in this instance to uninstall/reinstall the patch, since it only has half a dozen files with associated registry entries and is standalone, than it would be to try and target-shoot the problem ;)

That looks much better - you should no longer be seeing notifications?
You may want to check validation at www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate using Internet Explorer (Firefox has a history of breaking the page) and checking that it goes OK.
