Win 7 Key blocked - copy not genuine notification (OEM)

Today (I think) I received a notification that my copy of Win 7 Pro is not genuine. I tried to re-enter my key, but after some network activity I received a message that my key has been deactivated.

This OS has been installed on this laptop for years! This is the second install, from sep 2018. Since then never re-installed. Then out of the blue I have the same message so many others seem to have. Here is my MGA Diagnostic Tool data:

I don't know what else to say. I even have the receipt of this laptop with proof of payment of the Windows 7 Pro product.

Hi

The reply is specific, actually quoting as being non-genuine

It is rather unusual for a key like yours, System Builder, to be blocked
(i can find no trace of it on the Net, which is actually a good sign)
it does not mean however it hasn't been "resold" multiple times, the primary reason for keys to be blocked

there is also another reason that could cause this even tho its system builder and transferrable as such, a major component change have you?? If you have then the MS servers will take a bit of time to update.

Please confirm the the actual message from MS, it is possible to deactivate a key with a specific command - slmgr/upk

I haven't changed anything on my laptop. It's still my good old i3 laptop.

I don't have "Asus", but a custom built laptop by a well known company in my country (BTO on Laptop of desktop samenstellen en online bestellen bij BTO.eu).
Also, I have checked my receipt. I have Windows 7 Pro.

SLUI 4 doesn't work, but SLUI 3 does. Page redirects not to a telephone number because Windows 7 is not supported anymore.

Your not quite correct W7 IS still supported, however if neither SLUI code gives you the local number your going to have to phone thier general number for your country and you WILL NEED to speak to a person..

Do you have an external copy, made by Macrium/Ameobe etc

As for your Asus, in that case why is it on your system specs!!!!

1. First of all, I have found a telephone number online for my country, the Netherlands. So thank you for bringing up the idea.
2. I have received a USB disk with Win 7 pro on it.
3. As for Asus, I suppose some parts of this laptop is using Asus components - I don't know. BTO makes them custom for you so I guess they are using Asus products. But the laptop as a whole is a " no name" laptop from 2016. It's in perfect (!) shape still!

It's after dinner now, so I will call them tomorrow and hopefully they can help me.

I have two computers: Win 7 home was for my PC, but that one is dead. I have a new one with Win 10. I will update my system specs on this website.
But I also have a 2016 laptop. That one has Win 7 Pro!

the dead comp would have also required a System Builder or Retail product key, as it was a custom build
IF you still have the product key for that and are willing to drop down to Home, NO BIG DEAL, you could use that.
Either way it gives you a FREE upgrade to W10.... its still available

I've only minutes ago updated my new system specs because I haven't been on this website for a long time. But yes, I do have a valid Win 7 RETAIL version. It was for my old dead PC.

But I want to try to solve this first with Microsoft. I paid for my product and they have no right to disable it or provide a new working key.

Also, I don't want sluggish Win 10 on my I3 laptop.

Actually W10 is quite good on older systems, NOT sluggish at all, im running it on my REALLY old original Vista comp

The upgrade will last as long as the W7 activation servers are live.

If you use it before the above statement, and currently NOW, the W7 product key will be used to transfer the licence to the new machine......
What happens is that the W7 product key is used to start the "create" a machine ID process, its this that is then stored on the W10 activation server.... Re-installation from this point on uses the machine ID, NOT the old W7 key

Quick overview, based on your last post
Basically download the Home version of W10 using the MCT tool and perform a clean install, use your W7 key when asked for and away you go

As i said previously my Acer runs like a good'un -- drivers were NOT a problem yours will definately be in the MS repository

If you dont wont MS spying on you so much make it a Local install... hmmm not sure if this is still possible

MS's AV is pretty good you wont need a third party option

It took a while as I wasn't in a hurry, so I called MS helpdesk (they called me back actually) and claimed the supplier of this key (the same as the laptop provider) is responsible for providing a new key. That struck me as odd and indeed, the providing company just want to sell a new key.

So I have to call back MS and start to scream or something like that. They have confirmed the key is blocked, but do not wish to share why. So I'm stuck in the middle even though I have a legal license.

They also no longer supply W7 keys, hence the comment to get in-touch with BTO

Update: so far this has been accomplished:
"Somebody", not necessarily me, violated the TOS and they claim they are not allowed to tell who violated the TOS and are not allowed to tell WHICH part of the TOS specifically has been violated.

This is all I'm getting. Not kidding. I'm saving all the emails. I keep demanding to be connected with a higher echelon in the main time.

To settle things out of court. But the EU website is dysfunctional and finding arbitration commissions and consumer protection services for ICT products leads to dud web pages or empty lists.

UPDATE AGAIN:

Maybe, just maybe, there's a tiny breakthrough. After having "virtually" cyber-screamed in emails to make them see the folly of this situation (blocking the key without giving any information), the helpdesk employee asked me - stating that he can't promise anything - to send the bill once again and explain how my Win 7 Pro was delivered.

I responded that I wish to fully co-operate with all investigations and sent them the goods. Now we wait. I think he did ask for help internally but doesn't want to tell (or isn't allowed to).

Heck I even offered remote control of said laptop so that they can sniff it out to see if there were illegal activities or anything like that. It's just a weak "internet browsing" laptop. I believe that's quite cooperative.

Well, that was idle hope. Already received an email that the issue has been moved to a higher echelon (supposedly) and since Win 7 is not supported I'm once again sent back to the store to obtain a new license. Which simply means BUY a new license. I don't think so.

Clearly they should offer an alternative such as Win 10.
