I hope someone can help as this has defeated me. I'll try to provide all information in the instructions thread. but if you need anything else please ask :)

Really hope you guys can help.

Sorry - life is hectic, and yours is a complex problem.
It's likely that the cause is simply that KB2830477 is blocking any other update from installing since it will almost certainly be attempting to install first, and when it fails, every other update gets tarred with the same brush. I haven't had the necessary time (and sanity) to delve much deeper into the logs yet.

If you need a quick fix for any reason, the best I can suggest is a repair install.

No problem, I appreciate all the help. I'm going to try installing all except that one to see what happens.

Update: Same errors :(

Not too surprising - they may all have the same root cause....
Looking at the KB itself, I don't think this is likely - KB2830477 is related to Remote Desktop access, and KB2894844 is related to .NET 3.5.1 :(
Many of the others are also related to .NET 3.5.x

I suspect that a repair install is your best option - although you could try to remove the .NET updates using the Cleanup tool first...

Here's the forum's advice on the repair install...

How do you know all this?? lol

Do you have any idea what the route cause is then? Would a log of just trying to install one of them be easier?

I'll try those suggestions tomorrow but not a fan of the ever unreliable repair process.

Windows 7 repair is a vast improvement on earlier versions, easier and much more reliable.

I tried the disc for my OS and it's coming up with this so I can't unfortunately :/ I'm sure it used to. Maybe a service pack made it incompatible.

Thanks for the swift reply Noel, I am using the Windows disc. Or at least a clone of it. You see I'm using Windows 7 Enterprise x64, I used a spare license. So the disc I have is a full clone of Windows 7 Enterprise I use for if I ever need to re-install. So not a recovery disc to my understanding?

On that list though of ISOs, there is no Enterprise version listed? It mentions downloading a trial version? I could do that but isn't that insinuating I want to use it to install the Windows Enterprise trial?

You should be able to do the repair install using one of the downloads available (preferably Pro or Ultimate) - if you remove the ei.cfg file from the download first. This allows any version of win7 to be installed from the same disk.

Sorry Noel, been away for a week so just getting back on this now. This isn't going to delete any of my files is it? It's been a while so I can't remember how Windows.old works, does it keep your old desktop and files in there?

A Repair install doesn't create a Windows.old file - it overwrites the windows files keeping most settings and all user files intact.

As always, a backup is a good idea before you start!

So whereas the instructions say Upgrade, I want to avoid that and head straight for recovery options?

Edit: It doesn't list Enterprise :( Do you know what else I can do?

Oh heck - I thought Enterprise was one of the available options :(
In that case, all I can think of is to see if you can find someone with an Enterprise disk and try borrowing it or copying it.
The only other option would be a clean install using an alternative license.
