I have an issue with respect to restoring my contacts in Outlook 2007. When I import the ContactsBackup Outlook file, it sends the backup to a personal folder file named "contacts". All the information is there, but obviously not where I need it, on the Contacts tab (after Mail, Calendar, before Tasks). Any idea where I'm going wrong?

Outlook Contacts issue

Thank you for referring me to the basic backup and restore topics for Outlook. Unfortunately my issue isn't solved. Copying my prior Outlook "Contactsbackup" file to the path shown in data file management (C:\Users\Charlie\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook) doesn't accomplish anything. I made the mistake of trying to import this file, but all it did was create a "contacts" personal folder in the personal folders area. I can't seem to figure out how to get this data into the Contacts tab area. Any suggestions you may have are much appreciated.

Hopefully I now understand - apologies if I don't - this is what you need to do:
Customize the Navigation Pane - Outlook - Office.com

Add or remove buttons in the Navigation Pane

  • At the bottom of the Navigation Pane, click Configure buttons

, click Add or Remove Buttons, and then click the button that you want.
Note Although you can remove all the buttons from the Navigation Pane and maximize the folder pane space by dragging the horizontal splitter bar to the bottom of the Navigation Pane, it is not possible to remove the row of small buttons at the bottom.
