Continuing the http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/280434-internet-explorer-10-enable-32-bit-64-bit-ie10-windows-7-a.html thread with my own issues in getting IE10 (10.0.9200.16844) running the tabs in 64 bit mode AGAIN on a Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (yes, 64-bit OS) machine. IE10 had been running tabs in 64 bit mode until the a previous night, while leaving a thread open overnight and downloading a large file based on that thread. The next morning, the file was downloaded, closed the thread and cleared and closed IE's View Downloads window, a huge (1.3GB) IE*32 process remained open, with no IE windows open. Killed the IE*32 process tree and now, IE wants to open all tabs as *32 processes.

Machine, OS and IE are NOT new and have been running as 64 bit for some time (machine was created as a new install). No recent updates except MS Security Essentials definition updates.
Enable Enhanced Protected Mode on the Advanced tab and Security tab (Internet) have been and still checked.
UAC has been and still at Always Notify Me or above (Default) and verified in the Registry (EnableLUA is 1).
Disabled all IE Add-Ons in Manage Add-ons.
IE acts the same in other logins (Administrator) on the machine.
Have tried to enforce EPM via the Local Group Policy Editor. No difference.
Rebooted many times.

Believe something in that thread website changed IE, so it wants to run in or wants to run something else in 32-bit mode (that's not classified as an Add-on?). Anybody have any ideas what could have a hook into IE, cause an IE process (a tab) run as 32 bits and not be separate process, but not be considered an Add-on? I.e., how does Java run?

ThrashZone,
filled in the system spec sheet, using your executable.
As stated, using MS Security Essentials, who's definitions are the only thing recently updated (by me).
MSCONFIG Services: UPS Agent (APC, PBE Agent), NVIDIA Display Driver Service and NVIDIA WMI Provider
MSCONFIG Startup: Microsoft Security Client, Realtek HD Audio Manager, Logitech SetPoint, Microsoft Office 2010, Acresso Software Manager and SSEreg (Nuance Dragon Naturally Speaking) and SDII (Microtek scanner). Everything else is disabled.
(I have not changed in MSCONFIG for many months).

the Uninstall list is large and includes such Adobe items as AIR, Flash Player ActiveX and Plugin, Shockwave and Reader (No, I don't trust Adobe).

I also tried disabling Active Scripting and disabling Scripting of Java applets in the Security tab of Internet Options, wondering if Java were causing the tab to run in 32 bit mode. I still get one process running 64 bit and one process running 32 bit.
BTW, killing the iexplore.exe*32 process, causes the tab to reopen, while killing the iexplore.exe (the 64 bit) process, kills the IE window completely and says "your last browsing session closed unexpectedly" when IE is next started.

Hi thanks,
If you open Task Manager and go to the Processes section you should see what's running using *32
I'll have to check and see if windows updates use *32 process
Most everything would updating even Java from oracle,
Do you really need Java ?
Most people don't,
Interesting reads,

Why are you wanting all 64 bit processes ?
Some programs have made a compatible version for 64 bit but it will most likely use *32 bit processes regardless,
This is also a nice read,
How to configure your Flash Player settings for maximum privacy and security

Finally what Thread are you referring to that you feel has changed ie10 to only use *32 bit instead of 64 ?
Cheers.

Temp files delete,
Run this as administrator and Start the scanner,
Shut your machine down after it finished,
