control panel programs

I have installed a program and it put an icon and description in the control panel. I have now uninstalled it . and it is still showing in control panel . how can I delete it from there ??? . thanks :huh:

Cant you just right click on the control panel icon and delete it? If not, try doing both a regular cleanup and a registry cleanup with CCleaner.

Be very careful w/ registry cleaner software, even CCleaner... it can cause major problems.

If CCleaner doesnt solve your problem or you are not comfortable with it, do the following:

Click Start, Control Panel

Right-click the invalid icon and choose Create Shortcut

Click Yes when windows asks you to create desktop shortcut

In the Desktop, right-click the newly created shortcut and choose Properties

Click on Change Icon button. You'll then see the actual CPL file name in the resulting dialog.

Using the CPL file name, you should be able to trace the application, use windows search. Then, simply delete the .CPL file.

Try using Revo Uninstaller also to remove any remnants of the program.

it was revo uninstaller that was the culprit. I had to reinstall revo and then download your uninstaller trial and it uninstalled the program . must say my malware bytes popped up with both these programs sayin rogue installer , that is why I deleted it , must be a FP
