Solved Cool'and'Quiet, How can I tell if it is working?

Don't know about silence but the fan should run at a lower RPM if the CPU temp is low enough and you enable this in the bios,

and set it to Optimal.

If I am reading this right, if I want cooler and don't care about noise level, I should set it at Performance.

I am thinking that I read somewhere not to set at Performance because it defeats the Cool'and'Quiet. But I now believe what was being said was that the fan would run at maximum thus "defeating the purpose" of Cool'and'Quiet.

Now that I am able to watch temperatures in real time (thanks to CPUID) I am going to do some testing.

Stormy - back in #17 and #18 we made a change to the driver that I have loaded. Originally I had 1043.2.15.37 and we took action to "upgrade" to 1043.6.0.0. but that driver will not load because of the platform that I have.

If (when) I need to someday reload Windows, will the original version be there or have I created an issue for some later date.

It will either be there or will show up as an optional update in Windows Update. Personally go with the newer one as I'm pretty sure I have seen more than a few threads in the Crashes and Debugging section where that old version was the culprit.

If you are referring to the later one that you linked me to, recall that it would not load. But give it not another thought. I'll deal with it when and if.

Actually it did. Yours on the left, mine on the right

The reason it didn't "install" for you is you clicked on update driver from the second screen shot, and the new version was already installed.
