Copy DVD to DVD

Does anyone know of good software that will copy DVD to DVD exactly. Preferably Free.

I have two DVD's and sometimes need to copy one DVD to another.

You could try IMGBurn - its a 2 step process.

1. Copy DVD to ISO.
2. Write ISO to new DVD.

Hi there
If you want to copy FILM type DVD's for example - these are often dual layer etc and encrypted so normal copy software won't work.

The best solution -- although it's not a free program is to use AnyDVD from slysoft --it also removes regional encoding and CSS encryption from DVD's. I use this for copying all my movie DVD's to iso's that I save on to an external HDD. You can then mount the ISO (w7 with free virtual DVD mounting software or W8 with the native built in iso mounter) and use say VLC player to play the DVD or alternatively burn the ISO to a region free unencrypted DVD yourself using standard burning software.

The AnyDVD software can also remove various sound tracks as well or even compress the DVD if you need to make the copy smaller -- however I just make identical copies including menus etc of the original DVD less of course the encryption and regional encoding.

I am not really interested in copying Video or Audio CDs or Video DVDs.

I used to have a Program called Roxio that would copy any CD or DVD. It is so old now (think I used it with Windows 98) that I am not sure it will work with Windows 7 or Windows 8. I may dig it out and see if will still work.

Seems all that copy software does now is Audio and Video. A true shame.

If its not audio or video, then presumably its data (I'm guessing now of course because my crystal ball is broken). Whats wrong with just copying the data to a local HDD, ejecting the DVD, and then copying it from the HDD back to a new DVD??

Both CDBurnerXP and IMGburn can ditto copy DVD to DVD.

Do you have two DVD disks or two DVD drives?

See if this Microsoft article helps: Burn a CD or DVD . Click show all for details. I have never tried it, but I wonder if you can use the instructions to copy directly from a source optical drive to a target optical drive.
