Copy emails from old drive to new help

my 2 month old windows 7 pc wouldnt start or repair so rather than lose my info i bought a new drive, i've copied over my docs but how do i copy over my email account and its contence, using windows live mail.

WLM data is in these folders:
<username>/appdata/local/Microsoft/Windows Live Mail and
<username>/appdata/local/Microsoft/Windows Live Contacts.

Although I haven't tried it myself, it should be possible to use the import feature for Mail since you can navigate to the proper folder (above). However the import feature for contacts doesn't provide a navigation to the contacts folder since all the contacts should still be online if you were "signing in" either manually or automatically when you opened WLM. They would be downloaded when you sign in with the new install.
