Copy/Move stops at 100%

Every time I copy/move files to USB sticks it run like it should but when the bar fills up completely it stays there for quite some time before if actually finished... It says Time Remaining: About 5 seconds and 0 bytes left but it stays like this for like a minute or so but it wasn't allays like this... This started happening a month ago... I did't change anything it just started happening.

If I stop the process (click the x) it stops but the file is already copied/moved and if I stop it at that stage it doesn't get corrupted, it is just annoying.

Have you tried formatting the USB stick?

Of course I have... It is not a problem with one particular stick but with all Storage devices connected via USB... I have 4 USB sticks and a external HDD and all of them suffer from this problem... It is definitely a problem with the PC not with the stick

I have the same problem.
Speed is fast and steady, but the progress indicator will stay at 100% for a few seconds until it completes.
This pause varies with the size of the file being copied. A 1GB file will cause ca 10 sec pause.
The rest of the system is not affected by this pause (no freezing).
There seem to be some activity on the drive during this pause (indexing ?), but I havent figured out what it is.

I have experienced this problem on a total of 4 Win7 installations on 2 different motherboards and with several external USB hardddrives of different makes and models, so I can assure you that it's NOT a problem with the controllers or the external drives.

exactly.... But only that it takes a couple of minutes not seconds like you described it :/

Have you looked at Resource Monitor to see what the system is doing with the disk (USB drive) while this occurs?

I've not seen this with any w7/USB drive combinations.

Have you tried logging in to the Windows 7 Built In Administrator and then trying the transfer. (If you are unfamiliar with this follow Option 2 of the following tutorial)

BTW I assume you are formatting the drives to NTFS?

I have found a solution that seems to work in my case (so far):
In DEVICE MANAGER, open PROPERTIES for the USB-device. Choose the POLICY-tab and select "Better performance".
