The problem arose just earlier while I was using the desktop. Apparently the cpu cooling fan stopped spinning thus causing the system to frequently shuts itself down to prevent the CPU from overheating. The PC was just OK the night before. I even spent some time fixing things in it like what programs to use and settings etc etc. I could still boot the PC though, but ruling out another auto-shutdown is not possible due to the heat accumulating inside the processor while the cooling fan is off. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

The motherboard apparently only has a single 4-pin slot for the cooling fan, and the motherboard itself is just new. We just had the PC's mobo replaced because of damage to it as well as its RAM due to it being already somewhat brittle as the technician says. Apart from those two, everything in the PC is retained so a possibility of a faulty cpu cooling fan is not impossible >_____<.

Apparently the cpu cooling fan stopped spinning

Hi,

Have you been able confirm this is the case? Are the blades of the fan turning? Can you check to see that the fan header is still plugged into the motherboard, and hasn't worked its way loose?

Regards,
Golden

In fact I did see it not spinning since I always keep the CPU case open for a good airflow thanks to the country's hot and humid environment even at "ber" months lol.

Upon checking, there aren't anything loose with the cooling fan in relation to the motherboard. Everything is intact, which gives me a worry of a faulty cooling fan this time around.

First off, do not run your computer for very long without a working CPU cooler/fan. You could damage the CPU. The temperature in the CPU can rise very quickly - just a couple of minutes - to the cooking point. The computer cutting out is a self-protection thing to be thankful of. For testing it is OK to run for a minute, but no more. Start - Test - Shutdown.

The fans do burn out. That's what you want to test for first. You can test the fan by connecting it to another fan header that you know works. A case fan that is currently spinning.

One issue with that idea is that most modern motherboards will not boot if there is no fan connected to the CPU header. And most will not boot if the header cannot send RPM data to the motherboard (the fan is not spinning). Which should be the case here. Curious it is not.

But if that is the case: the PC will not boot after you disconnect the fan from the CPU header, then you will need to test the fan on another PC, or by rigging the fan to the power supply with temporary connections.

Do not do these tests for more than a minute, and let it cool down before you try anything else. Let us know what you find.

The CPU cooling fan apparently has gone faulty and was replaced with a new one. It seems looking for a CPU cooling fan for an AMD processor is more difficult than that of Intel's. Everything works just fine now after replacing the CPU cooling fan with a new one.
