Cowboy here is your answer Best budget gaming processors : January 2013

the 965.

happy gaming.

Edit:
Just had a look at your system specs you have the same CPU as me. I can run anything flat out on that CPU. Do you need to upgrade? Have you tried unlocking the 4th core? What about OCing it a little if the 4th core is unstable. They are normally pretty good over clockers. I OCed mine when I first got it just to see what I could get stable. With the 4th core unlocked it will not OC much but with the standard 3 cores it is quite happy OCing.

I do not OC it though because there is absolutely no need. Is your CPU bottlenecking you? I would have thought that you may benefit more from an SSD or even a hybrid like mine rather than a new CPU.

AMD FX-8350K AM3+ is the best AMD CPU for gaming right now.
It's on par with the i5-3570k, and has a better upgrade path.

Leave it locked then. It is the luck of the draw. They are locked because they fail the grade to be utilised as a different spec CPU but the rumour was that due to demand some chips destined to be "better" cpus got utilised at the lower end.

Have you monitored your CPU usage during gaming? Does it struggle? Yeah I have the 4th core unlocked but it has never been a source of a bottleneck and I would have though that with the normal 3 it should cope okay.

Having said that if you can upgrade then why not ( unless you are skint :(). I suggested an SSD upgrade but that does not have that much of an impact during gaming. OK folks do not flood me with evidence to the contrary. In my experience of my hybrid drive the difference between a standard HDD and the hybrid is markedly less significant during gaming when compared to say boot times and intense read/ write situations.

Go for it but proceed with caution ocing is not for the faint hearted. Baby steps and thorougly stress test after every step up. I can oc without touching my core voltages but you could go down that road if you have the budget for a new cpu anyway (you could fry the cpu that way be careful). There is a chance of other damage to your system but fortune favours the brave.
Insert corporate style disclaimer what you do is at your own risk i accept no responsibility etc...

Goodluck
