CPU freezing up and "Warning Unresponsive Script"

Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 running Windows 7 Home Premium,3.3 Pentium Dual Core, 2.10 Ghz, 3G Ram, 64 Bit
The computer has been running very slowly for several weeks and freezing up a lot. Using Firefox, we get an unresponsive script warning that freezes everything up.

I have defragged, cleaned up the files, restored the computer back one month, run all virus checks and malware, had checked by Staples and they found no virus, etc. Bought Webroot and that is running along with Malwarebytes Pro. Have also run check disk. Did not see the report on that.
Would love some advice.

It appears to be an issue with the 'Firefox script'; hangs up the program as it does not execute the command. The script could be something on a web page you're accessing, in an extension you installed, or even Firefox itself. You've also mentioned about the notebook running slow; and freezing up. This could happen due to old/incompatible drivers, depleted memory resources, many filter drivers, Memory Corruption, Hardware failure or Operating System bugs.

Please refer to the following tutorial to start the system in 'Safe Mode' and check if the system still runs slow & freezes up: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/69585-safe-mode.html
If the system does not freeze up in that environment, it is likely to be an 'Operating System' issue (software related); will check the 'system file logs' in that case to find out the culprit. You may also try tapping the key combination <Control><Alt><Delete> to launch 'Task Manager' to find out if any process/program is responsible for very high CPU usage.

If the issue persists in 'Safe Mode', it may indicate a 'hardware issue' and we will run diagnostics on the suspected hardware components to see if proves something. To run 'Hardware Diagnostics', restart the system and repeatedly tap 'F 12 key' at Dell splash screen > Use arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight 'Diagnostics' > Tap 'Enter' to initiate the tests (Please capture details of error, if any)

I am working through some of your suggestions. Firefox does not connect in safe mode. I have unchecked "use hardware acceleration" in Firefox.

When the script problem occurs, the box does not go away when you click continue repeatedly.
My husband is using the computer and he is using I E now to see if it keeps occuring.

Please take your time to perform the steps that I suggested to 'diagnose / troubleshoot' the 'slow speed' of the notebook. Do reply with the findings; will take it forward from there.
