So about 2 hours ago on my PC. I was playing WoW and had a hard crash and lock up. So I restarted my PC. Everything seemed fine. Just a mysterious crash. So I went on to updating my graphics drivers since it had been on my mind to do so. About half way into the update my desktop then crashed again. Only this time it cannot even get windows 7 64 bit to start up.

Then I ran the Start up Repair program. I get a message that it cannot repair it automatically.

On a history note. This PC has been pretty good to me. A few months back I had a bad run in where my RAM wasnt being read correctly and a simple re-docking fixed that. That was solved on this web forum as well. I don't know if its connected. Just a reference on history.

Other then that I'm not exactly sure how to go about on fixing this. I've never had a problem where even Windows wont boot up.

*Safe Mode does start up* Just not sure what to do.

BSOD data is attached. I tried running perfmon / report in safe mode but I got an error. Saying the path couldnt be found.

No DMP files included in upload Please use this method.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

So I checked if everything was enabled, and it was. But my minidump folder is empty...I tried running and getting more BSOD info which ill be uploading. But yeah. Minidump was set up correctly prior to the crash. Just that there isnt anything in there.

without dmp files we are really limited. Some reasons why a dmp file may not be created include no pagefile, a pagefile smaller than your ram, a page file on a different HD than the OS, UAC turned off, etc.

I just booted it up and everything seemed fine, however my avast won't let me do anything. Which has me thinking its probably caused by a virus now.

download Malwarebytes and run it.

BTW avast is known to cause BSOD's on some system

I notice your avast which is often at least a contributing cause of BSOD'S . Please remove and replace your Avast with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST

So I ran Malwarebytes and updated it before hand. It didn't find anything infected from a full scan. I'm going to try completely removing it and reinstalling it. While I wait for any suggestions.

Also my pc is being able to boot up into normal mode consistently.

Alright. So Malwarebytes found nothing. DId a full removal of avast and tried to use a fresh install. Won't update. Won't do anything. Also PC boots to normal mode fine now. So more then positive its a virus now. Any suggestions?

If you believe it may be alware there is only one way you can be sure. Format and clean install.

Alright. So Spybot found the virus and got rid of it in safe mode. I'm running fine on avast! now. It's perfectly fine now. Howerver I am having another problem now. Varries on timing but if I start up a game, about 10 maybe 15 minutes later I crash. no blue screen, I just crash with my image frozen on screen and I also get a sound loop.

You have some major system and registry errors. Recommend http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html. You may have to run this three times to fix any errors.

Due to the registry errors, I have a question: have you at any time run a registry cleaning tool? I ask because such tools are known to cause registry issues more often than they fix them on Windows 7.

Also, due to the registry errors, sfc may not be able to fix the problems. In that event, I recommend backing up your user files and either restoring from a backup image taken before your problems started or doing a clean install as zigzag3143 suggested due to the virus issues. The virus may also have been the culprit in corrupting your system and registry.

Edit: If you run backup and restore through Windows 7 and need help restoring from an image, let us know.

Ah. Yeah I have used tools for registry issues. Ill get right on running that scan. Thanks. Also I'll try to get that BSOD data correctly as well. Sorry about that. Last time I needed BSOD data it recorded fine, that's odd.
