Crashes with AVG?

In the last few days, I've had a couple of blue-screen crashes, apparently caused by AVG. The file shown on the blue screen is "avgwfpa.sys". Has anyone else experienced this? I would imagine that it's just due to things still being in testing, but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask about it.

I have had no problems with AVG but you could look at the AVG support site for some answers.

Same thing just started happing to me.
It was runing super stable for days now.
Then this morning I updated AVG, then bam, a BSOD, my first one ever.
Restarted Windows 7, then 3 mins later another one.

I did a system restore, but now AVG wont start, even though I'm telling windows to let it start in Action Center.

I had the same problem with AVG free, I switched to AVAST free and it is working fine.

Have you checked the windows firewall. If windows firewall is running you must allow the AVG files to pass through the firewall.
The list is on the AVG support site.

My AVG just stopped functioning a few days ago... The AVG service would stop as soon as it started. AVG also refused to uninstall. But no bluescreens.

That's when I removed all my OSs and installed Seven x64; happy ever since.

I am using AVG 8.3.6.0 everything suite ( trial ) and it is working fine. I set a new restore point and just updated it with no problemo's since .

I know this is months later than this post, but, I've been running windows 7rc since May with no problems. Tried to install AVG Free 7 but got a bsod during the install. BSOD say's Page Fault ... Able to boot to safe mode but can't uninstall AVG. (program to big to fit memory) .. Crash Dump Info:

The best build to be running on the 7 RCs is the latest 8.5 build and nothing prior to the 8.0 version. The 8.5 at first saw a crash back on the 32bit beta when first run there. The second installation however saw the problems with AVG corrected.

Presently the 8.5 has been running on the 64bit RC as well as having been on the 32bit and the Vista Home Premium x86 edtition without problems. A clean install of the RC would probably clear up a possible bad install of one or the other.

Thanx for the quick reply Night Hawk.
I was able to boot to safe mode again, and found the setup for the AVG 7 I was trying to onstall. I then was able to click the set up and use the option to uninstall all of the files for AVG.
All's good now! (didn't really want to go thru re-install RC; legacy hardware and all...)

AVG 8.5 would be the one to go for now since that is far more suitable for XP right through the 64bit RC. The 7.1 you likely stored on your drive is simply too outdated anyways. But at least you got the old stuff cleaned off now!

I never had this problem, i changed to Avira tho, just because it uses less resources then AVG.

If you run any program long enough you are bound to run into one problem or another at some point. Generally AVG sits around idle and not even noticed no matter what other program besides any other antivirus program is being run.
