New PC - Win 7 Pro, 64 bit ... start the Create procedure but before I can specify the C disk as the source, Windows stops the program with no error (copy attached). The computer is still 'active' (i.e not a hang).
What to do?

My previous PC had Win Home and I have the Repair disk for that - as a last resort, can this be used if I ever have to Restore the image of the new system?

Looks like the typical corruption of factory preinstalled Win7, which is the worst possible install one can have. I would strongly consider doing what most tech enthusiasts do and http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164. Everything needed to get and keep a perfect Win7 install is in the blue link.

Otherwise try http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html to see if it will repair the damaged system file, and if not consider a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html?ltr=R

Bugged Dell Support repeatedly and they finally sent a Windows re-installation disc and after reinstalling was able to create a Repair disc successfully.
I know there several ways to get past the problem (thank y'all for the suggestions) but I was concerned that this error may have been 'the tip of the iceberg' with more system errors in the future.

Shame on Dell for allowing a faulty system image to be sold. Very poor quality control!
