Hi,
I have problem with my creative audigy4 sound card,
i use FL studio 9 and pianissimo piano software, or any other it does not mether,
and midi evolution keyboard, and when i try to record my self, playing live, with microphone on and these plugins, the recorded sound is cracling, like interaptable, im using sony soundforge10 for live recordings.
this worked on xp, now i use win7 64bit ultimate,
intel core2quad q9550, 4gb ddr3 ram on 1600ghz,.....i think its not an comp. issue.
Did anyone had the same or similar problem????

First thing, do you have the Win 7 drivers for this old SB sound card? If you only have Windows installed drivers, go to the Creative site and download the actual Creative drivers HERE

After you get the Creative drivers (if you don't have them), try recording the mic to the Windows sound recorder and see if you get the crackling there. If not, that would say the sound card is OK and the problem is probably in the setup for FL Studio. I use Sonar X1 so I can't say what FL studio actually needs.

Hi,
I have problem with my creative audigy4 sound card...the recorded sound is crackling,

Something easy to test...
Open the START menu and in the SEARCH FILES AND PROGRAMS box type "appearance" (no quotes). <enter>

UNcheck the "enable desktop composition" box and click on OK. Then try your programs. If no change, no harm...

You can revert to the default by clicking the "let Windows decide" button - same configuration page - or simply check the box that you UNchecked and click on OK.

Yes, UNchecking the box disables some fancy graphics, but the system will work just fine without them.

And one question for fireberd:
Can I use sonar x1 for live recording, will it record my midi input, playing and voice at same time????
Or do I have to record it separetly, like first piano, then voice...or can it do together?

Thenks :)

I have done it with XP.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but it sounds as though the problem only appears when you are recording. If that is true, I would tend to suspect either the mike that you are using, or a bad connection on it.

I understand, but you mentioned that it happened when recording with a mike...what if you are just recording midi alone, does it still sound bad? In either case, it still sounds like the issue is with input, rather than the sound card or driver. Does it also sound bad if you play an audio that you did not record yourself?

my audigy 4 also makes crappling noise like "i am robot" but this issue exist since 7 appeared. under xp my audigy 4 was perfect. after changing to 64 bit win 7 everithing went wrong. I mean on the input side cuz the output is crystal clear still on 16bit 24bit it doesnt matter. I tried danielk's driver but nothing changed.
anyway go to creative forums and have a look what creative says about this. at the end you will sell your card just because the driver is impossible to be fixed for years by the creative enginiers :D

anyway this hardware is not an old thing. the features of this card is still above the average but creative has the almighty xfi that they can sell if you cant use your older one which is on the win7 compatible list since the stable driver release.

Good to hear, mate. No I'm from The States.

Disabling Desktop Composition kills the AERO look, but that eye-candy doesn't affect much else.

Here, Windows Media Center runs - poorly, with some crackling - unless D.T.C. is turned off.
This is likely due to the elder status of my PC. The P4 with 256 video just isn't up to heavy video demands.

So, there comes a time, if you need more horsepower. ^_^
