Hi, i was wondering if anyone could help.

I recently installed Windows 7 (build 7100), and now am unable to get the mic to work on my headset (Creative Fatal1ty).

I've changed it to the default, but it's just not picking up any sound. Tried it with skype, ventrilo and the speech recognition software and nothing. I've also checked everything is connected correctly and have pretty much run out of ideas.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You go to creative to get the driver for it?

I had a look, and couldn't find any. Silly question, but can you get drivers for Headsets?

I looked on the Creative Download pages and had no joy, but i'll try again to make sure.

Im sorry I was being completely stupid this morning. I meant your audio driver. Have you updated it? also are you 32bit or 64? whats your soundcard?

It just says "high definition audio device", in the device manager under "Audio, Video and Games controllers" does this mean perhaps i don't have a dedicated soundcard? or am i just looking for the wrong thing?

I'm running W7 64bit on my laptop.

I tried just doing the standard "update drivers" under my audio device properties, however it just said that it was currently up to date.

Well it's a Dell Vostro 1500, with a Intel Dual Core 2.20Ghz, 4 Gb ram, Nvidia Geforce 8600M GT. Anything else? And hd codec? do you mean the "HD audio controller"? Nope no yellow triangles, seems to think everything is working fine.

Hmm it says the driver is Microsoft windows, v6.1.7100.0, which i assume is the latest for Windows 7. Date on it is April this year. So that doesn't seem to be the issue unfortunately.

Sorry, i've been neglectful of forums for a week or so. Erm my laptop has a built in mic that registers and works "fine" (As well as any onboard mic works). When a plug the line-in is displays a line in, it shows speakers in the properties, however it has a little check-box which askes if i want to play sound through it which is unticked. I THINK i tried ticking it but still didn't work.
