crowded "open with" drop down menu

When I open certain programs I get the "open with" menu. How can I get rid of the multidude of selections that should not be on it?

you can't but you can set a program as the default opening program by going to the bottom of the list and selecting set default program and then selecting the program you want to open it and make sure that the use this program everytime is ticked

OpenWithView - Disable/Enable items in the 'Open With' dialog-box of Windows

You may need to rt click >properties>compatibility>run as admin

so you can disable items.
