"Crysis 3 has stopped working" error not resolved...

Hello,

So I installed crysis 3 and the first time I tried to open it I saw the logo, then a black window opened (not full screen) and then I got the "Crysis 3 has stopped working" and windows trying to find a solution thing...

I contacted EA support, thinking it was a problem with Origin, and we tried everything, they even transferred me to the "specialist" and the conclusion was its probably a problem with my Windows configuration or with my drivers.

I tried uninstalling the NVIDIA drivers, installing older ones, etc...nothing helps.

I created a new Admin user, and when I open the game from there I get the same error but I can also see the details of the error: its a BEX/Stackhash type of error.

I have one other game installed, and it loads fine.

Anyone has any idea what could be wrong?

Now, if that does not help, this is what I would do (personal opinion and personal choice). I know that Nvidia has a way of installing the drivers by doing a clean install but, because you are running into an issue, perhaps it is a good idea to do so manually, hence, the personal choice. It will not affect your system in any way, it would just be a bit time consuming is all.

Start by downloading the latest drivers from Nvidia and put them on a temp folder. Do the same with the Audio Drivers and also with your monitor if you find dedicated drivers. Also get yourself a copy of Ccleaner while you are at it and install it (just Ccleaner, not the other drivers).

Go to Control Panel/Programs & Features and make sure you uninstall the Nvidia Drivers only , don't know if the Asus H97-Plus chipsets comes with Nvidia also or AMD but if not AMD then you will also see other Nvidia drivers and you DO NOT want to uninstall those.

Once that is done it will ask you to restart but don't, look for the Nvidia PhysX drivers and Uninstall them as well... again, you may be ask to restart but you will not do it just yet.

Keep on scrolling down the list until you get to Realtek audio drivers (I am guessing this is what you have as you don't list a dedicated audio card)... uninstall this as well.

Make sure you also Uninstall the Crysis 3 game either from Programs & Features or the Start/All Programs menu and once your are done, now you can restart.

Let it do its thing and once it gets to the desktop give it a couple or few minutes to load the generic drivers, you may open Device Manager just to make sure it has finished with the installation of generic drivers. Once you are done, restart again but this time start in Safe Mode.

Once in Safe Mode, open Ccleaner and run both Cleaner and Registry as many times as needed until it tells you that it has clean everything and/or you have no more issues with your registry. The cleaner will sweep all of your cookies and temp files and the registry will get rid of remnants from old installations or uninstalls. Some people say this is bad I have been running it for years and years with no ill effect but this is entirely up to you.

OK, if you are done with this restart again and lets get back to W7 desktop, open the folder where you downloaded the drivers and install Nvidia first, do a Custom Install, this way you know what it will be installing as you may not need the 3D crap it wants to install or HD audio drivers as it may or may not conflict with the drivers from your board. The only thing you need here are the Video drivers and PhsyX drivers.

Do the same with the Audio drivers, Custom install just to make sure there is no 3D crap (unless of course you do have 3D stuff, then you would probably want it) or other stuff that you will not use.

And last, if your monitor has a dedicated driver go to Device Manager, look for the Monitor, then Driver Tab and click on the Update Drivers button, you will manually have to look for the .INF file and it should be in the Temp Folder you downloaded it. If you don't have one, no worries then.

Restart for good measures and now install your C3 game and fingers crossed... all will be well in the land of Stealth, Aliens and Crossbows
