I am having a real problem with my cursor jumping to the bottom when I attempt to reply to someone's email. Sometimes it will type the first few letters and then jump to the bottom and finish the word there. Does anyone know how to fix this?

If you are indeed on a laptop, there should be a setting in the touchpad driver to turn down the sensitivity of the buttonless click.

What sort of mouse are you using? (trackball, optical, etc)

If you don't know, is there a model number on the bottom?

Since you're using your browser, is it IE8? If that is the only program with problems you can try resetting it: Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/ Reset. How does the browser work when doing other things like posting in this forum or creating a new email?

I believe it is an optical (has the red light). I'm sorry I'm not real good at this stuff. I don't know what an IE8 is. I'm using Internet Explorer, Yahoo for my email. It seems that the only time I have a problem is when I'm sending a reply from my Yahoo email. When I am just typing a regular document the cursor stays put. Does that help ~ like I said I'm not very good at all the technical stuff. Sorry. I appreciate the help ~ that's for sure.

IE8 = Internet Explorer version 8 :)

Since you are on Windows 7, this is probably what version you are on, unless someone else uses the computer that is "savvy" enough to want to try Internet Explorer 9.

As roncerr said, under the tools menu will be "internet options" Under that there should be "advanced reset" option. This will reset Internet Explorer to defaults, and might fix the issue.

Thank you very much. I checked and I do have IE8 :D. Glad you told me what that meant. Thanks. Now I will try and see if the suggestion about doing the reset will help. Thanks to you both. I'll let you know!:)

Thanks so much! I think that maybe the help you folks have given me may have solved the problem. At least it seems better. I did what you suggested regarding resetting IE (see I've learned something ~ I used IE):geek:

I wonder if we can fix this completely. You said it only happens with Yahoo mail?

Would you be opposed to trying an email client?

Hi there
With laptops it's usually easily fixed by downloading the STANDARD Synaptics touchpad driver and disabling the touchpad when using a USB Mouse.

With a Desktop it's a bit different but the problem is often caused by strange Interference with Wireless Mice and USB ports.

If your desktop still has an old fashioned PS/2 type port (the small round hole) just plug your mouse into that (use a USB ===> PS/2 adapter if you only have a USB mouse).

Another solution is to move the USB devices around if you have different USB ports and don't mix USB 1 and USB 2 devices on the same port.

The cursor jumping is a REALLY ANNOYING problem when you have it -- short of trial and error there's not much you can do.

Ensure also of course that you have the most up to date VIDEO driver and CHIPSET driver installed too. You will need BOTH the VIDEO and CHIPSET drivers to be up to date for most motherboards.

In some cases the drivers updated by W7 Windows update can cause regression -- its best to use the drivers on the disk that came with your motherboard even if they "appear" older than the W7 ones.

Cheers
jimbo
