Are they really cut or do they just stop there. The reason I ask is those wires may be the antennas for the wireless card. They don't always go up into the display and they just dead end. They look like wires but are actually antennas. Is there actually bare wires at the end or are they covered in heat shrink wrap? If you could take a picture and post it it may help.

No, They are cut and have no ends on them , Found a set on ebay and they have two pads that stick to the inside of the back panel on the screen. These are not frayed, but cut. Thanks

OK, if they are cut then one has to wonder how and why? Where did you get this laptop? My guess is that at some point the display section was replaced, and the replacement didn't have the WIFI antennas in it. Who ever swapped the display section didn't take it apart to remove the antennas, they just cut the wires. If the other half of the antenna cables are missing you'll have to buy replacements and take it all apart to install them.

I am doing this as a repair for a client, His first complaint, the laptop was booting up into the battery calibration screen. Through process of elimination I discovered that the battery is bad and needs to be repalced. His second complaint is the laptop was showing a memory crash dump, I odered the original restore disk from restore disk .com. His third complaint is when he was trying to use the wireless, even sitting three feet away from the wap, he is getting only one bar for signal. I then set up my wap on his laptop and I was seeing the same issue as I was one foot away from my wap. I then decided to look at his wireless nic card under the keyboard and discovered that the antenna wires had been cut just below the screen hinge. I am working on ordering a repalcement antenna wires.
I deeply thank you for your reply, should you have any other questins or suggestionw please let me know.

Curtis
