Solved Dark Theme for Windows 7

Hi Everyone,

I am very new to this forum and was wondering if anyone could help.

I have windows 7 and love how it runs. I suffer with migraines and I am finding the theme too bright when windows open. I have gone into personalise and made it as dark as possible but some things are still too bright. I was able to install a dark theme about a month ago I but decided to give windows 10 a chance. As I did not get a long with windows 10 I went back to windows 7 but no longer with a dark theme. Now I cannot find a way to get the theme back.

all the download links I have come across do not work and I am getting a lot of conflicting answers too.
Would anyone be able to assist me please? I would be grateful

Thank you for your reply. I have tried as you have suggested and followed the steps.
I notice that on file explorer and other systems menus the background is bright white, there used to be dark themes that made the white parts black and I am really struggling to find anything. is there anything thing else you can suggest, maybe somewhere to download compatible dark themes for windows 7?

These will have you use a theme patcher. Be sure to make a system restore point before applying. The theme patcher is here in case the install of the theme on that website fails to mention it. Universal Theme Patcher - Download

Hi evernyone, I just want to thank you for taking time to reply to my question, it means a great deal to me to have Dell XPS running Windows 7 again (Dark mode of course)

I ended up taking F22 Simpilot advice and using the universal theme patcher.

Here are the steps just incase anyone else needs them:
control panel>user accounts>change user account settings>never notify
run Team resource changer
Run Universal theme patcher
Only then install theme to windows\resources\themes
