debugging/viewing dmp fies

Ok; I have downloaded and installed bluscreenview to try and view dump files from other users to help pinpoint the cause etc. but when i do I get the following error(s):

how to i configure it to properly open the dump files for viewing. Thanks Matt

That error occurs because Windows is trying to execute the dump file.

Right click on any dmp file and click on Choose Default Program. In that window, click on Windows GUI symbolic debugger. Down under the list of programs, check the box to "Always use the selected program..."

You can also right click on a dmp file and choose "Open with" then select the debugger.

Be sure to setup your symbols path.

I use the following but your drive letter and folder name is your choosing.

Well the problem i have now is its saying wndbg is not a valid win 32 application. now what do i do?

When do you get that message? It was running wasn't it? What happens when you right click on a dmp file and open with the debugger?

Its saying that when i try and run wndbg to open the dump files. I tried right clicking on it and clicking open with and then wndbg and thats the message i get.

Will it start if you click on Windbg from the start menu? It should open with a blank panel. From there, click on File in the tool header then select Open Crash Dump and see if a dmp file will open from there.
