I have several browsers installed, but use IE mostly.
Recently IE 11 has started this 'mail client not properly installed' nonsense in Win 7. I seem to have it worse than others in that multiple copies of IE appear and the error message won't go away after I have attempted to use a site's email link. The message reads: 'Could not perform this operation because the default mail client has not been properly installed'. The PC becomes unworkable and a reboot is required. I have done the suggested, but until now unnecessary, thing of actually telling Win 7 that WLM 2011 is my default mail client. Win 7 already knows this, but nevertheless this doesn't fix the chaos. Windows Task Manager struggles to remove the multiple copies of IE.
I have never seen this before and am wondering if a recent 'update' has caused this very serious situation. (I am keying this in Chrome by the way. It's OK but doesn't allow the Google search bar to be installed.)
Is there a fix or do I use another browser until hopefully an IE update fixes the problem?
